Required Documents

required documents

When you rent a car in Canada, there are specific documents that you are required to bring when you pick up your car hire. When you pick up your rental car you will be required to present a valid driver's licence. If you are not a Canadian resident, you will be required to present your passport as well. International customers must have a valid drivers licence and a credit card otherwise they will not be permitted to rent a car. At the time of rental, drivers must present a major credit card.

It is important also important to note than cash is rarely accepted by car rental companies. Keep in mind that an international driver's licence is only valid if presented with an original driver's licence so make sure you bring both when collecting your car.

Here is a list of required documents required to rent a car in Canada:

  • Valid driver's licence
  • Passport (non-residents)
  • Credit card (in the same name as the renter)
  • International driver's permit (if you licence is not in English)

Always make sure to check the terms and conditions to ensure that you can see an up to date and specific list of required documents that the car rental company needs you to provide. If you have any questions relating to your car rental you can contact our customer care team or the car rental supplier directly.
