When you rent a car in Canada, there are specific documents that you are required to bring when you pick up your car hire. When you pick up your rental car you will be required to present a valid driver's licence. If you are not a Canadian resident, you will be required to present your passport as well. International customers must have a valid drivers licence and a credit card otherwise they will not be permitted to rent a car. At the time of rental, drivers must present a major credit card.  It is important also important to note than cash is rarely accepted by car rental companies. Keep in mind that an international driver's licence is only valid if presented with an original driver's licence so make sure you bring both when collecting your car.
