2013 Winner Announced

A big THANK YOU to all our essay competition entries for the VroomVroomVroom.ca scholarship program. From bustling capital cities to quaint small towns, we had many excellent entries, which made picking a winner extremely difficult! 

But there has to be a winner... Drumroll please...

Congratulations: MARSHA MCLEOD!

Marsha wrote a witty and clever article about the ever-exciting city of Toronto with a variety of city hot-spots to delight and entertain any tourist or local long-weekender.

We received an overwhelming response for the 2013 VroomVroomVroom.ca Scholarship. It has taken a bit longer this year to judge all of the wonderful applications, writing projects & transcripts we have received. As a result, we have delayed the announcement of the scholarship recipient until Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Thank you for your patience!

Once a year, VroomVroomVroom awards merit-based scholarships for students pursuing higher education in Canada.

VroomVroomVroom.ca is Canada's leading car rental comparison engine website and they seek to make educational opportunities available to those committed to studying and school.  Any student who is entering university or college as a full-time student is eligible. 

VroomVroomVroom hopes to help alleviate some of the financial stress for a hard working student.  VroomVroomVroom's owner Peter Thornton thinks this kind of encouragement goes beyond a dollar sign. It shows that a company representing Canadian identity believes in the success of its young community.

How to Apply

Deadline: Scholarships will be awarded once per year.  Fall Scholarship applications must be postmarked by July 30, 2013 and will be awarded by Aug 20th, 2013.

Award: $1,000 awarded to one recipient

Eligibility: Canadian citizens or permanent residents with a minimum GPA of 3.0 enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or university in Fall 2013 or Spring of 2014.

Application: Three components must be submitted for your entry:  (A) Application Form, (B) Small Writing Project, and (C) Copy of transcript.

(A) Application Form:  Click to view and print: VroomVroomVroom Scholarship Application. All fields must be answered.

(B) Small Writing Project:  On a website, blog, or online forum, write a 1000-1400 word post that shares the best not commonly known local attractions for tourist for any major Canadian city.  You must include a link within your online content that links to the VroomVroomVroom.ca website (www.VroomVroomVroom.ca).

Criteria for evaluation: the best posts will give clear details, avoid grammatical or spelling errors, demonstrate creativity, and weave in the applicant's personal thoughts. They must also include a link from the website or blog post to the VroomVroomVroom.ca website.

(C) Transcript: Include, or have sent, a current transcript (either official or an unofficial printed copy) to the address below. All materials must be postmarked by July 30, 2013 for the upcoming Fall Scholarship.
