Celebrate the end of summer in Toronto
The Canadian National Exhibition leads up to Labour Day, with a busy calendar of events, shows and activities. Bring along the whole family along to the Toronto Exhibition place, near Lake Shore Boulevard West.
Visitors can enjoy special performances, parades, exhibits, talent shows, and live music. There are also opportunities to get up close to farm animals, and watch an exciting air show.
Go apple-picking in Montreal
A popular fall tradition in Montreal is apple-picking. Head out to the countryside for a day and spend some time with your family on one of the many orchards around the city. Just a short drive from central Montreal you will come across lovely orchards offering plenty of enjoyable activities.
Options for orchards to enjoy your weekend include Denis Charbonneau Orchards, Le Ferme Quinn, Verger Chocolaterie Pommalefun and many more. If you're travelling with children, many of these orchards also offer opportunities to meet the animals, theatre shows, mazes and playgrounds.
Watch the first stretch of the Tour of Alberta cycling race
The annual Tour of Alberta cycling race will be kicking off in Jasper this year. The length of the first stage is 162 kilometres, and will involve cyclists taking on the scenic highways of the Rocky Mountains.
There is no better place to see out the end of summer than Jasper National Park. Spend the day exploring the many stunning lakes, waterfalls and hiking trails.
Visit an old-fashioned fair in Burnaby
Take the kids to the Burnaby Village Museum for their exciting Labour Day Fair. The museum is easily accessible, just a short drive from Vancouver. The fair is held annually to celebrate the last day of the summer season.
There is plenty of entertainment on offer, with interesting local market stalls, carousel rides and games for the kids. Children can also take part in craft activities at the fair.
