Returning Your RV Checklist

Returning Your RV Checklist banner

When you return your RV in Canada, you'll need to remember a few things so you can avoid any delays or additional charges during the returns process. If this is your first time renting an RV, here is a checklist to help you:

Dispose of any waste

Before you leave the campground, make sure you dispose of any food and additional trash. You'll need to empty the holding and grey water tanks completely.

Clean the vehicle

You'll need to clean the interior of the vehicle, which includes wiping down the benches, cleaning the shower and toilet, clearing the refrigerator, and washing any used cutlery.

Fill the fuel and propane tanks

You must fill the fuel and propane tanks before you return your RV. These tanks need to be completely full if you want to avoid extra charges, so make sure you check the tank indicators.

Take all your belongings with you

Make sure you check all the storage cabinets inside the RV to make sure you have all of your personal items with you. If you fail to claim any items left behind, they could be discarded.

Arrange your onward transport

It is a good idea to arrange your transport from the RV depot in advance, particularly if you are heading to an airport. Some RV rental companies offer shuttles to the airport and other designated locations for a fee, but others don't. In some cases you'll need to arrange your own transportation.

If you haven't properly cleaned your vehicle, or you haven't filled the petrol and propane tanks, you could face additional charges. Cleaning fees may also apply if you have been smoking or had pets inside the vehicle.
